Musculoskeletal Pain & Conditions
Musculoskeletal (MSK) pain can show up in many ways and for various reasons. This includes a range of tissues: muscles, tendons, ligament, joint capsules, cartilage, bones, nerves - all of which are interconnected.
Early intervention is vital in creating improvements at a lower cost and decreases the likelihood of leading to a long-term condition. Telerehab has been found to be effective in the acute & sub-acute* phase AND preventing development into the chronic. Research has shown telerehab can play an important role in improving health outcomes for many MSK problems.
*MSK pain can be categorised into:
Acute- Approx 6 weeks
Sub acute- 6-12 Weeks
Chronic- More than 12 weeks
Common Musculoskeletal Conditions:
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Arthritis
-
Tendonitis/Tendonopathy
-
Radiculopathy
-
Frozen Shoulder
-
Carpal Tunnel
-
Knee pain
Clinical outcomes of telerehab in MSK injuries are very similar when compared to conventional therapy including:
-Pain reduction
-Improvements in mental health
-Decreased fear avoidant behaviours
-Reduce risk of re-injury
